Discount & Sale Price Calculator
Work out the sale price and how much you save after a percentage discount.
Quick answer: Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). Savings = original price − sale price.
Worked example
A jacket costs 120 with 25% off. The saving is 120 × 25 ÷ 100 = 30, so you pay 90. Two discounts do not add: 20% off and then a further 10% off a price of 100 gives 72, not 70.
How to use it
- Enter the original price.
- Enter the discount percentage.
- See the sale price and how much you save.
Common mistakes
- Adding two discounts together. Each one applies to the price left after the previous one.
- Forgetting sales tax, which is usually added after the discount.
Helpful tips
- To find the sale price straight away, multiply by (100 minus the discount) ÷ 100. For 25% off, multiply by 0.75.
